40 Inventive Principles in the Altshuller Matrix
The Altshuller Matrix (Contradiction Matrix) is a tool for resolving Technical Contradictions.
After formulating a Technical Contradiction, the conflicting parameters must be identified and generalized. When the Matrix is used correctly (by properly selecting the improving parameter and the worsening parameter), it will indicate several (up to four) Inventive Principles that suggest a scheme for solving the problem. The solution models indicated by the Matrix were statistically the most frequently chosen by inventors in thousands of previously developed solutions to similar problems.
If there are no statistically most frequently used solution schemes indicated, it is recommended to analyze all Inventive Principles.
